
Laboratory Technician
Tersa Earth is developing novel biotechnologies for remediation of mining waste. We aspire to drive the mining industry to a new era of profitability and sustainability providing improved solutions in mining tailings management and providing unmatched solutions for decarbonization.
Tersa is hiring a full-time/permanent Lab Technician. As Technician, you will assist the team with lab cleaning, preparation of materials, maintenance, and administrative duties such as ordering and safety monitoring. The Lab Technician will work as part of a team, as well as carry out independent tasks.
Responsibilities
Maintain a clean and safe lab through general cleaning duties, and by following and enforcing safety procedures and checks.
Maintain equipment in a clean and serviceable condition.
Ensure an organized lab, including waste disposal duties.
Conduct overall lab maintenance, ensuring the laboratory is well-stocked and resourced and that everything is clearly and correctly labelled.
Assist with experiment preparation, set-up, and re-stocking of materials.
Perform data entry functions and general word processing such as inputting test information into relevant computerized systems, and transcribing from rough draft or general instruction.
Perform general record management duties such as assembling files, assigning file numbers, preparing file folders, and filing and distributing documents and files.
Receive, record, sort and distribute incoming and outgoing mail, faxes, internal correspondence, and courier documents.
Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications
Diploma or undergraduate degree in science, engineering or related discipline.
Previous related experience an asset.
A combination of education, experience, skills & abilities will be considered.
